These parrots have a mostly green plumage, with a bright yellow or orange belly, and a gray head with a black beak. They have a striking V-shaped red patch of feathers on their underwings, which is visible during flight or when the wings are spread. The tail feathers are mostly green with a blue tip.
Juvenile Senegal Parrots have a duller coloration and lack the red underwing patch. However, their overall appearance is similar to that of adults.
